The quickest way to lose credibility is to say one thing and live another, and many people don’t just notice that contradiction in Christianity, they’ve been hurt by it. We open 1 John and face the uncomfortable claim of 1 John 1:6: if we say we have fellowship with God while we walk in darkness, we lie. That verse is not about nitpicking a single mistake from years ago. It’s about the direction of our lives, the patterns we normalize, and whether our “truth” is something we actually practice.

We slow down and define fellowship the way John does: shared life with God, given to us through the real, tangible Jesus who was seen, heard, and touched. If God is light, then life with God can’t stay hidden in words, spiritual talk, or correct theology that never reaches our habits. A divided life doesn’t only misrepresent us, it becomes a false witness that tells the world something untrue about God.

Then we put skin on “walking in the light” through Jesus’ own definition of love. In John 13, Jesus washes feet and gives a new command: love one another as I have loved you. That love isn’t selective kindness, loyalty to our group, or loving people who can advance us. It’s cruciform love that dies to pride, convenience, superiority, resentment, comfort, and self-protection, and it moves toward the overlooked: the chronically ill, the poor, the grieving, the outsider, the person carrying shame, and the inconvenient neighbor we’re tempted to ignore. Listen, then subscribe, share the message with a friend, and leave a review. Who is Jesus inviting you to love on purpose this week?
