    [SUSTAINABLE FASHION] [ENTREPRENEURSHIP] [SURVIVOR ADVOCACY]

In this episode of The Fearless Entrepreneurs Podcast, host Cindy Chang sits down with Melanie Wong, founder of Olive and Splash, to talk about building a sustainable athleisure brand, learning to pivot quickly, and turning deeply personal experiences into advocacy and impact.

Melanie shares how her background as an athlete shaped her competitiveness, discipline, and willingness to go after opportunities—even when the odds seemed stacked against her. From negotiating her way onto a varsity soccer team after tryouts had already ended to building a career in public relations and eventually launching her own sports and entertainment PR firm, her path to entrepreneurship was anything but linear.

She opens up about how a traumatic home invasion changed her sense of safety and ultimately pushed her to step away from PR, focus on her mental and emotional well-being, and explore a completely different kind of business.

That shift eventually became Olive and Splash.

The conversation also explores Olive and Splash’s unconventional approach to retail, including launching a drive-thru clothing store during the pandemic, producing face masks early in COVID, and building a mobile retail model that allows the brand to meet customers where they are.

She also shares how that experience has shaped her advocacy work today, including board service, survivor support, and a bursary designed to help people access therapy and care.

At its core, this conversation is about resilience, action, and refusing to stay silent. It is about building a business by listening, adapting, and moving before everything feels figured out, and using your platform to create change far beyond the company you started.

    [WOMEN’S HEALTH] [PRODUCT INNOVATION] [ENTREPRENEURSHIP]

In this episode of The Fearless Entrepreneurs Podcast, host Cindy Chang sits down with Rachel Newton, founder of Nixit, to talk about building a period care and sexual wellness brand that challenges stigma, prioritizes women’s bodies, and rethinks the way intimate products are designed.

Rachel shares how her career in law, hedge funds, and investment banking eventually gave way to entrepreneurship after stepping back from work and finding the space to explore a new idea.

She opens up about her own early discomfort around periods, how concerns about waste and disposable products led her to discover menstrual cups and discs, and why she saw an opportunity to create a product that felt simpler, more intuitive, and better aligned with women’s bodies.

Rachel also takes us behind the scenes of building Nixit—from researching patents and navigating medical-device regulations to launching cautiously, finding the right Canadian manufacturer, growing a team, and expanding into major retailers across North America.

The conversation also explores Nixit’s expansion into lubricants and condoms, why ingredient transparency matters in intimate care, and how products traditionally centered around men can be redesigned with women’s health, comfort, and pleasure in mind.

At its core, Nixit is about more than period products. It is about body literacy, sustainability, sexual wellness, and giving people the information and confidence to make choices that feel right for their own bodies.

    [INDIGENOUS ENTREPRENEURSHIP] [BEAUTY] [PURPOSE]

In this episode of The Fearless Entrepreneurs Podcast, host Cindy Chang sits down with Jenn Harper, founder and CEO of Cheekbone Beauty, to talk about building a multi-million-dollar beauty brand rooted in Indigenous representation, sustainability, and purpose.

Jenn shares how a dream in 2015 sparked the idea for Cheekbone Beauty and how her journey through sobriety, healing, and reconnecting with her Indigenous roots helped shape the company’s mission.

She opens up about starting with no beauty-industry experience, learning through early mistakes, receiving pivotal feedback from Sephora, and eventually building an in-house lab to develop high-performance, sustainable products of their own.

Jenn also discusses leadership, building a values-driven team, listening to customers, and why transparency and community trust are essential to the brand.

At its core, Cheekbone Beauty is about more than makeup. It is about Indigenous representation, creating opportunities for future generations, and showing others what is possible when purpose and entrepreneurship come together.
