  • 08 Hebrews 5:9 - 6:20 (Eternal Security - Part 1)
    2025/11/02
    * You can get the sermon note sheet at: https://family-bible-church.org/2025Messages/25Nov02.pdf * We have seen that through faith in the saving work of Jesus Christ we can enter into the rest which God has promised. That rest is not for after we die, but also for while we walk on this earth and represent Christ. * Last week, we saw Christ is the causation of our "eternal salvation." Eternal salvation refers to an everlasting deliverance that was caused and granted by God Himself through Jesus Christ. That statement would seem to end all discussion regarding eternal security; however many people still debate this topic. * Today we begin to consider a passage (Hebrews 6) that is many times turned to in order to demonstrate that you CAN lose your salvation - and thereby NOT have eternal security. However, this portion is more involved than can be properly handled in one session. So, today, we will begin by considering the initial context of the passage - the need for the Hebrews to grow in their doctrinal understanding. * This message was presented by Bob Corbin on November 2, 2025 at Family Bible Church in Martinez, Georgia.

  • 07 Hebrews 4:14 - 5:11 (The Author of Salvation)
    2025/10/26
    * You can get the sermon note sheet at: https://family-bible-church.org/2025Messages/25Oct26.pdf * Over the past two weeks, we have seen that YHWH had promised a rest from work even in His creation of the world. YHWH then declared that Israel had been able to enter into that rest because of their disbelief. David declared in Psalm 95:4 that the rest still remained for those who would not harden the hearts. Therefore, the author of the book of Hebrews urged, "Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience." We enter that rest through faith in the saving work of Jesus Christ. That rest is not for after we die, but also for while we walk on this earth and represent Christ. Last week, we saw that God gave us His Word and the High Priestly ministry of Christ to assist us in maintaining our rest in Him. * Today, we transition into fully looking into the High Priestly ministry of Christ as the intercessor of the saints, the sacrifice for sins, the mediator of the New Covenant, and the Finisher of our Faith. Today, we begin that consideration by picking up where we left off last week - considering His intercessory ministry on behalf of the saints. * This message was presented by Bob Corbin on October 26, 2025 at Family Bible Church in Martinez, Georgia.

  • 06 Hebrews 4:9-16 (The Means of Rest)
    2025/10/19
    * You can get the sermon note sheet at: https://family-bible-church.org/2025Messages/25Oct19.pdf * Last week, we saw that God had delivered Israel from bondage to Egypt in order to bring them into a land of "rest." However, this land could only be received, and entered, by trusting YHWH to give them the land (and the rest), in the same manner that He had delivered them out of Egypt. However, the children neglected so great a salvation (deliverance) at that time and did not "rest" in Him. * The Promise of this Rest was given by God even at the beginning - for YHWH work six days and the seventh day He rested (cf. Heb 4:4). David declared in Psalm 95:4 that the rest still remained for those who would not harden the hearts. * The author of the book of Hebrews therefore urges those who heard/read he teaching, "Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience." * We continue today considering that exhortation - to enter the rest - by considering the fact that God has not just given the promise of "A Rest" but He also provided the means of being assured of and maintaining that rest! * This message was presented by Bob Corbin on October 19, 2025 at Family Bible Church in Martinez, Georgia.
