    2026/07/12
    * You can get the sermon note sheet at: https://family-bible-church.org/2026Messages/26Jul12.pdf * Today, we come to our final study of Solomon's proclamation of what he has discovered regarding meaning and purpose in life. He has struggled to see purpose in life as he considers that same types of things happen to people across various cultural boundaries. The rich and the poor, the powerful and the weak, and the wise and the foolish, all experience afflictions in life, and in the end all will die. What you have attained in this world - under the sun - will not go with you past the grave. That, to Solomon, caused everything in life to be meaningless and a vanity of vanities. His philosophy of life was limited to the Temporal Pleasures rather than a comprehension of the Eternal Rewards. * As we come into the final two chapters of the book, Solomon deals with the end result of his musings. How should all of this affect my living as I consider my future - both temporal and eternal? Solomon provides two key pieces of wisdom to his readers: As you prepare for your temporal future on the earth: sow seeds ... and As you prepare for your eternal future: serve YHWH. * This message was presented by Bob Corbin on July 12, 2026 at Family Bible Church in Martinez, Georgia.

  • 13 Ecclesiastes 9:13-10:20 (Remember Your Creator In Your Application of Wisdom)
    2026/07/05
    * You can get the sermon note sheet at: https://family-bible-church.org/2026Messages/26Jul05.pdf * Throughout our study of the book of Ecclesiastes, we have continually dealt with Solomon's flawed fatalistic philosophy of life as he considers everything in life - under the sun - as pure vanity and a grasping for the wind. * At the end of last week's message, Solomon turned to the topic of wisdom as part of his illustration of a small city that was delivered from a great siege, laid by a great king, through the wisdom of a poor wise man. He continues to share the importance of not neglecting wisdom - and the application of wisdom - in the affairs of life. * Wisdom is the ability to use knowledge and experience to make good decisions and judgments. It involves discernment and the capacity to understand complex life situations. * Prudence is the ability to govern and discipline oneself by use of reason. It is knowing how to avoid embarrassment or stress, and having discretion in practical affairs. * Prudence is the practical application of wisdom in the affairs of life. * Today, we want to examine how we should "Remember Our Creator in Our Application of Wisdom ... or in Our Prudence." * This message was presented by Bob Corbin on July 5, 2026 at Family Bible Church in Martinez, Georgia.

  • 12 Ecclesiastes 9:1-18 (Remember Your Creator In Your Legacy)
    2026/06/28
    * You can get the sermon note sheet at: https://family-bible-church.org/2026Messages/26Jun28.pdf * In the second message of this series, we discussed Remembering Your Creator in Your Philosophy of Life. In that message, we considered Solomon's erroneous view that any interconnectedness of reality under the sun is a grasping for the wind and meaningless, and core truths which should shape a Biblical framework of philosophy: the Exclusivity of God and the Eternalness of Man. * Today, we consider another passage where Solomon is considering "the meaningless of life under the sun" as a result of his faulty fatalistic philosophy of life. * Life is full of countless events and choices. One of the things that bothers many people is that they cannot control all of these events and happenings. * One of those major considerations is the desire to be "remembered;" to have a lasting "Legacy." Your legacy is the impact and memories that a you leave behind that continue to influence others after you are gone. Since, you cannot control everything that happens to you, you cannot ultimately predetermine your "legacy." It will be a result of the decisions you made in response to the situations and events in which you lived. * Through this series, the theme has been to "Remember Your Creator" in the various phases of life. Today, we consider the need to "Remember Your Creator in Your Legacy" ... which, in my mind, is equated to declaring "Remember Your Creator in Your Responses to the Events of Life." * As I traverse this adventure of life there are various influences or factors which work together to determine my path, and my ultimate end. Solomon considers these in his musings and then provides an illustration which brings an opportunity to ponder how these factors flow together to impact many people at one time. * This message was presented by Bob Corbin on June 28, 2026 at Family Bible Church in Martinez, Georgia.
