• 35- Mom, Who Said Family Life Has to Look Like This?

Have you ever stopped in the middle of family life and wondered, “Why do we even do it this way?”

Sometimes we have a clear vision for the kind of family we want to build, but when it comes to the actual day-to-day, we default to what we know, what we grew up with, or what we think a “good mom” is supposed to do.

In this episode of Faithful Mama Rising, we’re talking about the family rules, routines, and expectations we may be following without ever really choosing them.

I’m sharing how this showed up for me in homeschooling, the old roast story that perfectly explains inherited habits, and a coaching conversation that reminded me how freeing it can be to realize that some things simply do not have to be done the way we’ve always done them.

    We’ll talk about:

    • Why familiar does not always mean intentional
    • How we can turn preferences into requirements without realizing it
    • The difference between protecting the value and clinging to the method
    • How to notice the family patterns that may be creating unnecessary frustration
    • Why “Is this biblical, or is this just familiar?” can be such an important question
    • How to keep the why while getting curious about the how

The goal is not to throw out every routine or tradition in your family. It’s to become more intentional about the culture you are creating and to ask whether the way you are doing things actually supports what matters most.

Do you keep telling yourself you’ll feel more peaceful once this week is finally over?

Are you waiting for the kids’ schedule, your marriage, finances, work, or life in general to settle down before you can actually enjoy any of it?

Feel like you’re constantly managing your life instead of actually living it?

If you’re an overwhelmed mom who keeps thinking peace, connection, health, time with God, or even feeling like yourself again will happen once life finally calms down, this episode is for you. I’m sharing a very real moment that made me realize I was mentally rushing through the life I was already living, waiting for a calmer version of it to show up. We’ll talk about why the things that help us feel grounded, connected in our marriage, and close to God are often the first things we push aside when life gets full, what Jesus says about today’s trouble, and one simple question that can help you stop postponing your life and start living more of it right now.

But what if some of what you’re carrying was never actually yours?

If you’re tired of being everyone’s everything, this one might bring a little relief to those shoulders.

  • 32- Why You Stay Stuck, Mom (Even When You Know What to Do)
    2026/09/01

    Send us Fan Mail

    Have you ever...

Said, “I just don’t know what to do,” even though deep down you might actually know the next step?

Found yourself avoiding a conversation, decision, or change because staying where you are somehow feels safer?

Wanted God to show you the whole plan before you’re willing to take the next step?

    In this episode...

Sometimes the hardest part isn’t figuring out what to do. It’s not knowing what will happen after we do it.

In this episode, we’re talking about why familiarity can feel a whole lot like safety, how doing nothing is still a choice, and what Jehoshaphat’s story in 2 Chronicles 20 can teach us about moving forward when we don’t know the outcome.

Because faith was never about having the whole blueprint. Sometimes it looks a whole lot more like knowing where to stand... and taking the next step from there.

  • 31- When Resentment Creeps In, Mom: Have the Details Taken Over?
    2026/08/25

    Send us Fan Mail

Have you ever looked around and thought, Why am I the only one who seems to care about any of this?

I have always related to Martha in Luke 10. She was doing what needed to be done. She was serving, caring, handling the details — all things that mattered. But somewhere along the way, those details became the whole picture.

    And I know that feeling.

Sometimes resentment creeps in because we really do need more help. But sometimes it’s also a clue that we’ve gotten so focused on what isn’t getting done, who isn’t helping, or what feels urgent that we’ve lost sight of what matters most.

In this episode, I’m talking about what I finally noticed in the story of Mary and Martha, how “busy” can quietly turn into keeping score, and why the things we’re doing for our families can sometimes pull us away from actually being present with them.

We’ll talk about what it means to “zoom out,” why putting Jesus first doesn’t have to become another giant task on your list, and how resentment can become a warning light instead of something we immediately obey.

Because the fur can always be vacuumed.

The dishes can wait a minute.

But the time slipping away can never be returned.

    In this episode:

    • Why I have always been Team Martha
    • What Jesus actually said to Martha — and what He didn’t
    • How details can quietly become the whole picture
    • Why resentment often starts with keeping score
    • How “busy so well” can affect your marriage
    • Why presence matters more than getting every little thing handled
    • How five focused minutes with Jesus can shift the energy of your day
    • What it looks like to move from Martyr Martha to Unshakeable Mary

    Something to Notice

When resentment starts creeping in this week, don’t ignore it — but don’t immediately obey it either.

    Pause and ask:

What am I focused on right now?

Has one detail become way too important?

Am I seeing the whole picture, or have I gotten lost in one little thing?

  • 30- Why Your Marriage Feels Stuck (And the One Thing That Can Change It)
    2026/08/18

    Send us Fan Mail

Do you ever feel like you and your spouse keep having the same conversations... the same misunderstandings... the same patterns... and wonder why nothing ever seems to change?

What if the problem isn't that you're not trying hard enough?

    What if it's the input?

In this episode, we're looking at the story of Zerubbabel and the rebuilding of the temple to discover an incredible truth: when God's people became discouraged, He didn't just tell them to work harder—He sent encouragement. Sometimes God changes the output by first changing the input.

We'll talk about how our minds process the stories we tell ourselves, why every conversation begins before we ever open our mouths, and how the truth we feed our hearts eventually shapes our marriages, our mindset, and our everyday lives.

If you've been feeling discouraged, disconnected, or simply stuck, this episode will remind you that invisible progress is still progress—and that God knows exactly how to reach your heart when you're willing to keep showing up.

    In This Episode:

    • Why we often stay stuck in the same marriage patterns
    • The surprising way God helped Zerubbabel move forward after 16 years of discouragement
    • Why your mind is a processor—not the source of truth
    • How your thoughts shape your conversations before you ever speak
    • The connection between Luke 6:45 and healthy communication
    • Why changing your input changes your output
    • The difference between Beast Mode and Build Mode
    • Why you should never confuse invisible progress with no progress

    Key Scripture:

    • Haggai 1
    • Zechariah 4
    • Luke 6:45

    🌱 Something to Notice

This week, pay attention to the input you're allowing into your heart.

When you find yourself reacting in your marriage or replaying a familiar story in your mind, pause and ask:

    • What story am I telling myself right now?
    • Where did that story come from?
    • Is it coming from fear... or from God's truth?
    • What encouragement might God already be sending that I've overlooked?

Instead of trying to outthink your thoughts, ask God to give you fresh input. You might be surprised how He chooses to speak—through His Word, a conversation, a song, a sermon, or even a quiet nudge from the Holy Spirit.

  • 29- Why You Forget What You Already Know When You're Overwhelmed
    2026/08/11

    Send us Fan Mail

Ever find yourself thinking, "I know better than this... so why am I spiraling?"

One of the trickiest things about overwhelm isn't just having too much to do. It's what happens to our perspective when our emotions get loud.

In this episode, I'm sharing a very real moment when my woefully low summer podcast numbers sent me down a whole spiral of failure, not being enough, and all the things I clearly needed to fix. The funny thing? I already knew summer numbers tend to dip. I already knew growth takes time. I knew all the things.

My emotions just weren't particularly interested in what I knew.

And that got me thinking about how often we do the same thing with God. We know He's faithful. We've learned the lesson. We've seen Him come through before. But then... life. All the busy, the unexpected, the overwhelm—it piles up, and suddenly the truth we know can feel really hard to access.

So we're talking about what Joshua's memorial stones can teach us about why God knew His people would need reminders, why the Israelites' golden calf may hit a little closer to home than we'd like to admit, and the difference between desperately searching for another answer and turning to God to remind us of what we already know.

Because sometimes the truth isn't lost.

    It's just buried.

    In this episode:

    • Why overwhelm can change our perspective even when our circumstances haven't changed
    • What happens when our emotions start outweighing what we know
    • Why God told Joshua to build memorial stones
    • What the golden calf teaches us about what we reach for when we feel uncertain
    • The difference between desperately searching for a fix and trusting God to guide us
    • How journaling helps me notice when I'm getting swept up in a reactive pattern
    • The simple "God Check" you can use when your "know brain" seems to have gone into witness protection 😂

    Scripture Mentioned

    Joshua 4:6–7
    Joshua 4:24
    Exodus 32

    🍃 Something to Notice

What truth has God already shown you that may have gotten buried under everything life has piled on top of it?

Before you go searching for another answer this week, notice what's happening. Then take it to God and ask Him to remind you of what you already know.

  • 28- Why You Feel Overwhelmed Again (After Making So Much Progress)
    2026/08/04

Have you ever caught yourself thinking...

"Seriously? I thought I already dealt with this."

    Maybe it's overwhelm.

    Maybe it's anxiety.

Maybe it's that same frustrating pattern in your marriage that you thought you'd already worked through.

When old struggles resurface, it's easy to believe you've gone backwards. But what if you've been measuring growth the wrong way?

In this episode of Faithful Mama Rising, we're talking about why recurring struggles don't erase your progress, what Jesus teaches us about pruning in John 15, and how learning to recognize unhealthy patterns sooner may actually be one of the greatest signs of spiritual growth.

If you're an overwhelmed Christian mom who has ever wondered, "Why am I here again?" this episode will encourage you to see those familiar battles through a completely different lens.

In this episode, we'll talk about:

    • Why recurring patterns don't mean you've failed.
    • The difference between recognizing a pattern and living in one.
    • What Jesus teaches about pruning and continual growth in John 15.
    • Why the enemy wants you to focus on the recurrence instead of your growth.
    • One simple question to ask the next time overwhelm, anxiety, or an old pattern shows up.

    Scripture

    John 15:1–2

    Philippians 1:6
