Daniel 3: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused to bow before King Nebuchadnezzar’s golden image in Babylon. Jon Rhoades explores the fiery furnace, their “but if not” faith, and why trusting God never guaranteed they would survive.

Everyone else bowed. Three men stood firm. And when King Nebuchadnezzar threatened to throw them into the fiery furnace, they refused to compromise their worship of the one true God.

In this episode of **Biblically Literate**, Jon Rhoades, Children and Family Minister at First Christian Church in Brazil, Indiana, walks through Daniel chapter 3 (ESV) to explore what real faith looks like when obedience to God comes with a cost.

Discover why Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego could serve in Babylon without worshiping its gods, what their famous “but if not” declaration actually meant, who the mysterious fourth figure in the furnace might have been, and how this story points us toward Jesus.

For Christian parents, husbands, and anyone facing pressure to compromise their beliefs, Daniel 3 offers a powerful reminder: **Faithfulness to God isn't based on getting the outcome we want.**
