The most famous lesbian vampire story is reimagined. Based on Sheridan Le Fanu's 1871 novella Carmilla, The Unwanted transports the Gothic tale from Austria to the American South [citation:1][citation:7][citation:11]. A young drifter arrives in a rural town seeking her missing mother, only to become entangled with Laura, an emotionally fragile waitress, and her overprotective father [citation:3][citation:7][citation:12]. Their passionate relationship echoes a dark secret from the past, blurring the line between erotic obsession and supernatural horror. Southern Gothic, vampire legend, and a timeless tale of forbidden love retold.
