Host Robert Carriger sits down to speak with art scholar Janeita Singh about the controversial modernist painter from Goa, India: Francis Newton Souza. Janeita approaches Souza's paintings from a variety of perspectives including the collective western shadow and repression of the feminine. She sees recent interest in Souza's work as signaling a return into collective consciousness of the ancient Indian traditions of the fierce feminine, traditions long buried under centuries of colonial rule. She has explored these and other themes in her recently released book, "F.N. Souza: The Archetypal Artist."
