    In the seventh episode of "Füchse der Wissenschaft" Jan and Sebastian invited two new PhD students from the TU Berlin, namely Karin and Tolue. They talk about how to stay motivated, why they use the fungi Aspergillus niger in their subproject HetAn, how to cultivate it and eventually how to characterize and investigate it.     The fifth episode focuses on how two different kind of microorganisms (fungi and bacteria) can be used together in order to utilize the abundant resource cellulose as a substrate in a co-culture. Ana and Maurice, from Jena and Aachen, explain the uniqueness of their research in the project ToPiS and how GFP (Green Fluorescence Protein) helps to optimize their fermentation.     In der vierten Episode erklären Martina und Miriam von der TU München wie das Bakterium Clostridium in der Lage ist mit Abgas wertvolle Produkte herzustellen. Im Projekt SynCoClos geht es dabei um einen umweltfreundlichen Ansatz zur Herstellung von langkettigen Alkoholen. Wieder mit zwei unterschiedlichen Stämmen - vergleichbar zu den anderen Projekten. This time, it's about the topic gene editing and obviously the sub-project CoNoS, which is handled by both, Rico and Simone from the Research Center Jülich. They explain, how their work goes hand in hand for the same goal: development and construction of specific strains of C. glutamicum in order to get them grow together as one community.     Für die zweite Folge "Füchse der Wissenschaft" haben Sebastian und Jan die zwei Doktoranden Tobi und Simon aus der Uni Stuttgart eingeladen. Wie es sich im "Kessel" lebt, warum E. coli der ideale Mikroorganismus ist und was hinter dem Namen "MiMiCry" steckt, erfahrt ihr genau hier. Als Einleitung wird außerdem der grobe Ablauf einer Mikroorganismus Kultivierung erklärt und auf die Begriffe Upstream, Downstream und die einzelnen Teilschritte eingegangen.
