In this episode of Exposit, we continue our verse-by-verse study through Galatians by examining Galatians 1:11–24 and Paul’s defense of the divine origin of the gospel. Paul makes it clear that the message he preached was not invented by man or received through human authority, but came through the revelation of Jesus Christ.
We explore Paul’s former life as a zealous persecutor of the church, God’s sovereign grace in calling him, and his commission to proclaim Christ among the Gentiles. We also examine Paul’s early relationship with the apostles in Jerusalem and why this matters for understanding his apostolic authority.
Through this passage, we consider the doctrines of divine revelation, sovereign grace, justification, and God’s providential work in transforming sinners for His purposes.
The central question: If the gospel comes from God, who has the authority to change it?
Join us as we examine the text, explore its historical and theological context, and consider what it means for the church to remain faithful to the gospel of Jesus Christ.
