The Gospel is not ours to change, improve, or compromise. It is the message of salvation accomplished by Jesus Christ, and it must be protected from every attempt to distort it.
In this episode of Exposit, we begin our verse-by-verse study through the Epistle to the Galatians, examining Paul’s opening words and the urgency behind his letter. Why does Paul waste no time confronting the Galatian churches? What does it mean to preach a different gospel? And why does Paul pronounce such a severe warning against anyone who would distort the message of Christ?
We’ll explore the historical and theological context behind Paul’s letter, the threat posed by those who sought to add requirements to the Gospel, and the unchanging authority of God’s revealed truth. From Paul’s defense of his apostolic calling to his declaration that there is only one true Gospel, this passage reminds us that salvation rests upon the finished work of Jesus Christ—not human merit, religious performance, or man-made additions.
The central question is this: Are we submitting to the Gospel God has revealed, or are we reshaping it into something more acceptable to man?
Join us as we open Galatians 1:1–10 and discover why the church must stand firm in the truth, reject every distortion of the Gospel, and remain faithful to the message entrusted to us.
