What do you do when your usual market stops giving you good trading opportunities?
In this episode of The Weekly Edge, Alex Seery and Bill Betts look at how traders can adapt when market conditions change without abandoning the strategy they already know.
After a quiet few weeks on the Forex markets, Alex explains why he started testing the Weekly Edge strategy on NAS100, an index made up of major US technology companies. Rather than simply jumping into a new market, he went back through historical data to see whether the same rules and principles could work there.
Alex shares what he has learned from the backtesting so far, including a strong early win rate, fewer but potentially higher-quality setups, and some of the differences traders need to understand when moving from Forex to an index.
They also discuss why backtesting builds confidence, why fewer trades can sometimes produce better results, and why having another market to watch can help when your usual setups simply are not there.
The conversation also moves into the importance of mentorship, avoiding signal groups and social media hype, and understanding the difference between learning a genuine trading skill and simply following somebody else's trades.
Alex also shares some of his longer-term thinking around trading personal capital, building a potential trading fund and continuing to develop Trade Success beyond prop firm challenges.
Ultimately, the lesson is not to keep chasing new strategies whenever markets become difficult. It is about collecting data, testing ideas properly and finding ways to adapt while staying disciplined.
No hype.
No noise.
No unrealistic promises.
Just real conversations about trading.
