“The Lord said to Moses, “Take the finest spices: of liquid myrrh 500 shekels, and of sweet-smelling cinnamon…” (vs 22,23)
In this week’s scripture, Moses is given a recipe for the anointing oil—which was to go on items in the tabernacle and Aaron and his sons. When you look at the recipe, you can almost smell it… because all that cinnamon sounds a lot like the smell of Christmas!
But there is this interesting line in vs 32: “It shall not be poured on the body of an ordinary person, and you shall make no other like it in composition.”
Why would God give a recipe for the anointing oil? Why on earth is that important? What does it all mean?
