Fast leaders can accidentally create dependent teams.
In this episode, Christine looks at a common leadership reflex: somebody brings you a problem, you understand it quickly, and you give them the answer before they have had to do the thinking themselves.
A better sequence is evidence first, answer second.
Give a capable person the information they genuinely need. Help them see the pattern when necessary. Then ask questions that require them to interpret it, consider what they can control, generate options and decide what they will do.
And then tolerate the pause.
There are times a leader needs to step in — risk, emergencies and decisions that genuinely sit at your level. But if every problem arrives with you and leaves with your answer, you are building dependency rather than capability.
