We resisted the urge to title this one, "WhyTalking to Yourself Might Be the Most Spiritual Thing You Do" So we'll mention here to get it out of our system.

If you've ever caught yourself muttering through the hard stuff out loud, you're in good company — and you're walking the same path as the writers of Psalm 42. In this episode of Everyday Grace, Belinda Kirk takes us into one of Scripture's most honest conversations: a soul-deep back-and-forth between a hurting heart and a hopeful faith.

We start in Numbers 16, with the rebellion of Korah — a story you'd expect to end in judgment, and it does. But mercy outlives the moment, and the sons of Korah become the singers, writers, and worship leaders of Israel. From that legacy comes Psalm 42, and from Psalm 42 comes a question worth memorizing: "Why are you cast down, O my soul?"

Belinda walks through the deer-panting thirst for God, the waves that knock us off our feet, the enemies whose words break bones, and the quiet, stubborn choice to answer ourselves with truth — "Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him." It's a study, a counsel, and a comfort, all in one.

If today finds you somewhere in the middle of the Psalm — not yet at the end — this one is for you. Listen, share it with a friend who needs hope, and subscribe so you don't miss what's next.5.

  • Everyday Grace | 44 | Godly Interruptions
    2026/05/20
Belinda Kirk walks through Acts 16 to reveal why divine detours are never dead ends — they're doorways to something greater.

On this episode of Everyday Grace, Belinda Kirk opens Acts 16 to explore one of the most pivotal redirections in church history — the moment the Holy Spirit told the Apostle Paul, "No, not here."

Belinda traces Paul's second missionary journey, from his parting with Barnabas, to the addition of young Timothy, to the surprising "no" that kept Paul out of Asia and pointed him toward Macedonia. Along the way, she shows how God's interruptions led to Lydia's conversion, Luke joining the team, a midnight jailbreak, the salvation of an entire household, and ultimately, the gospel reaching an entire continent.

If you've ever felt frustrated when your plans fell apart, this episode is a powerful reminder: God isn't stopping you — He's preparing you. What feels like an interruption may be the very road to His greater plan.

  • Everyday Grace | 43 | The Enemy

In this episode of Everyday Grace, host Belinda Kirk reminds listeners that Christians are living in a very real spiritual battle. Drawing from Ephesians 6, she unpacks Paul’s command to “put on the whole armor of God” and shows how our fight isn’t against people—but against unseen spiritual forces that seek to distract, deceive, and defeat.

Belinda illustrates how complacency in our walk leaves us unprotected, while daily preparation through God’s strength equips us to stand. Using vivid analogies—from the construction worker’s boots to the football player’s uniform—she encourages believers to suit up for battle, wield Scripture as their sword, and remember that the war has already been won through Christ’s resurrection. This is a message of courage, awareness, and victory that every believer needs to revisit.
