    What do you do when you honestly don't know what to do?

    You've gathered the information.You've considered the possibilities.You've done everything you know to do.

    But the decision still has to be made.In this episode of Everyday Grace, Belinda Kirk turns to James 1 and discovers that sometimes we don't need more information—we need wisdom. James writes to believers experiencing real trials and tells them something surprising: count those trials as joy. Not because the difficulty itself is enjoyable, but because God can produce something through it that wasn't there before.

    The testing of faith produces endurance. Endurance matures us. And when we reach the place where we simply don't know what to do next, James gives remarkably straightforward instructions:
    Ask God.And God doesn't reluctantly hand out tiny portions of wisdom.

    James says He gives generously.Using everything from soil and seeds to her granny's heavily loaded jelly biscuits, Belinda reminds us that when our wisdom runs out, God's hasn't.

    The question isn't whether He has enough wisdom.It's whether we'll ask—and trust Him to give it.

    How much does a word weigh?

    We love the stories in Hebrews 11 where faith leads to victory. But what about the stories where it doesn't?

    Hebrews 11 is often called the great “faith chapter”—a remarkable list of men and women who believed God and acted on that belief. Noah built. Abraham went. Moses obeyed. Kingdoms were conquered. Lions' mouths were shut. Fire couldn't consume God's people.

    Then something changes.The same chapter begins describing faithful people who were mocked, imprisoned, tortured, destitute and killed.They had faith too.In this episode of Everyday Grace, Belinda Kirk walks through the comfortable—and uncomfortable—parts of Hebrews 11 to confront an important question: What happens to our faith when following Jesus doesn't produce the outcome we hoped for?

    The answer eventually takes us to Peter in John 21. Jesus tells Peter that following Him will one day cost him his life. Peter immediately looks toward John and asks, essentially, “What about him?”Jesus redirects him:

    “What is that to you? You follow Me.”

    Faith doesn't require knowing how the story will end.

    It requires knowing the One we're following is worth it.
