Episode 05 — Moments That Matter Most

    The Ripple We Leave Behind

Most of us imagine that making a difference requires something big.

    A grand gesture.

    A major accomplishment.

    A moment everyone notices.

But much of life happens somewhere quieter.

Someone lets us merge into traffic.

    A stranger holds the door.

    Someone remembers our name.

A person gives up their seat.

These moments may last only seconds, but they can change the way we feel—and sometimes, the way we treat the next person we meet.

Because kindness has a way of creating a ripple.

Someone does something kind for us, and we carry a little of that feeling forward. We become a little more patient. A little more generous. A little more likely to extend that same kindness to someone else.

One person. One interaction. One ripple.

Moments That Matter Most is a real-life reflection about the ordinary interactions we often overlook, the quiet power of making another person feel seen, and how small acts of kindness can travel farther than we may ever know.

    Because these things seem small...

until you're the person receiving them.

A question to carry with you:

Tomorrow, where could you slow down long enough to make one person feel seen?

  • The Two Speeds of Life
    2026/10/05

Episode 04 — The Two Speeds of Life

    Description

Life seems to move at two very different speeds.

There are seasons when we run.

We chase opportunities. Success. Relationships. Experiences. The next goal. The next version of the life we think we're supposed to build.

And then there are seasons when life stops us in our tracks.

In this deeply personal episode of Evening Reflections, Paul shares how the collapse of his business and marriage forced him from the speed of the rabbit into the pace of the tortoise—and how an unlikely ritual with his grandmother changed the way he saw his life.

At 4 a.m., after returning home from bartending, Paul would help his bedridden grandmother out of bed. They'd make coffee, sit together in the dark kitchen, and watch the squirrels outside the window.

It sounds like such a small thing.

But sometimes the smallest moments are the ones that change us.

For the first time, Paul wasn't chasing anything. He wasn't trying to prove anything or get somewhere else.

    He was simply present.

And slowly, he began noticing things he'd been moving too fast to see.

The Two Speeds of Life is a reflection on ambition, loss, grief, presence, and discovering that slowing down doesn't always mean we're falling behind.

Sometimes life slows us down so we can finally see what has been there all along.

    As you listen, consider:

What are you chasing because you truly want it—and what are you chasing because someone else convinced you it mattered?

When people remember your life one day, will they remember how fast you ran... or how deeply you loved?

What if the season you're trying hardest to escape has something important to teach you?

  • Sometimes Just Say Yes and Let It Fly
    2026/10/03

Episode 03 — Sometimes Just Say Yes, and Let It Fly

    Description

The Unexpected Gift of Saying Yes

Sometimes life carries us farther outside our comfort zone than we ever intended to go.

    We look for exits.
    We negotiate with ourselves.
We wonder how we got there.

And sometimes, the only way out... is through.

Years ago, an ordinary night bartending in Chicago led me somewhere I never expected to be—an underground fight club, an electric chair, and a decision about whether to walk away or simply say yes and see where the night took me.

What happened next became one of those strange experiences that stayed with me long after the night was over.

Sometimes Just Say Yes, and Let It Fly is a real-life story about fear, surrender, stepping outside our comfort zones, and the unexpected things we can discover about ourselves when we loosen our grip on how we think life is supposed to unfold.

Because perhaps some of the moments we're trying hardest to escape...

become the stories we're most grateful to have lived.

A question to carry with you:

Is there a moment in your life when saying yes to something uncomfortable or unexpected led you somewhere you never could have planned?

  • The Currencies of Life
    2026/10/01

Episode 02 — The Currencies of Life

    Description

    Counting the Wrong Currency

    For years, I believed I wasn't enough.

    Not because I lacked ambition.
Not because I didn't work hard.

Because I had measured my entire life using only one currency—money.

For nearly fifteen years, I chased the success I thought would finally tell me I'd made it: startups, stock options, the next big win. But the financial success I was chasing never really came.

Then one night, I went to dinner with my friend Pops.

One question—and the stories I heard around that table—forced me to look at my life through an entirely different lens.

I began to realize that while I'd spent years focusing on everything I didn't have, I'd barely noticed everything I did have.

The Currencies of Life is a real-life story about the ways we measure success, the forms of wealth we sometimes overlook, and what can happen when we begin counting with a different currency.

Sometimes the wealth you've been searching for...

has been sitting at your own dinner table all along.

A question to carry with you:

What forms of wealth in your own life might you have stopped noticing because you were measuring something else?

  • The Table That Built Us
    2026/09/28

Episode 01 — The Table That Built Us

Growing up, dinner in our house wasn't optional.

Family, friends, whoever happened to be there—you showed up, pitched in, and became part of the table.

At the time, I never thought much about it. It was just dinner. An hour or so talking about our day, teasing each other, and usually laughing until my dad had finally had enough and left the table.

But looking back all these years later, I realize those ordinary evenings were quietly teaching us something about connection, laughter, contribution, and belonging.

The Table That Built Us is a reflection on the traditions we barely notice while we're living them—and how they quietly shape who we become.

What ordinary traditions from your own life may have shaped you more than you realized?
