Brent Johnson and John Butler agree Europe is in serious trouble. Then they split on what happens next, and the gap is worth real money. Butler argues the euro could crack, France keeps sliding toward one of the lowest sovereign credit ratings in the bloc, and out of that wreckage Germany and its eastern neighbours turn Russian gas back on and become some of the fastest growing economies in the developed world. Poland, he points out, has already passed Britain and France in per capita income in purchasing power terms. Johnson pushes back hard. He thinks the special relationship holds, that the United States supplies 63 percent of Europe's LNG and will use that leverage, and that cozying up to Russia is far harder than it sounds given the history. Butler's answer is two words. Nuclear weapons. Germany and Poland could have them in months, he says, which changes everything about who needs the American security umbrella. Neither man calls a winner. You get the live question instead: your savings are exposed to a weak euro, a strained sterling, and a rising dollar whether you have an opinion or not. The one thing they both admit they are not prepared for is the scenario that pays. Press play and decide which side you are standing on.
