Today I'm joined by Joanne Begley, founder of For After I've Gone, a series of end of life legacy journals for people to leave their loved ones for after they die.
Joanne's idea came from love. She supported a friend with MND who wanted to leave something meaningful for her children, and when she couldn't find anything on the market to suit her friend, she created it herself.
Joanne also lives with her own health challenges. Her personal experience led her to reflect deeply on mortality. Instead of looking away, she turned it into something that helps other families. Her background is in social care, and she has an end of life therapy diploma and is studying to become a death doula.
Today the collection includes editions for parents, siblings, partners and friends, giving people a way to capture the things that so often go unsaid.
We talk about why these conversations matter, how to start them, and what it means to build a business around legacy while living with your own health story. It's a moving, honest and surprisingly uplifting conversation, and I think it will stay with you.
