A village where people once had never heard the name of Jesus is now leading its own church and it’s not because outsiders “did everything.” Brittany sits down with Lori Rogers fresh from her second Malawi mission trip to unpack what God is doing through Divine Mission Ministry in Misinja (Misinga) Village, and why this kind of growth happens when local believers are equipped to lead from the start. We talk about the reality of long travel, the joy of being welcomed by a whole community, and the surprising ways simple obedience reshapes a place.
We also get practical about how First Baptist Church Boerne partners in global missions. Lori explains what it means for a ministry to become an FBC missions partner, how funding and support work, and why a church’s steady giving and prayer can strengthen both humanitarian care and gospel advance. Along the way we share updates on the school, feeding efforts, sustainability projects like pig farming, fencing land for maize and rice, and a dental clinic running at the same time as training.
The heart of our conversation is Four Fields training and disciple making. Lori breaks down how new believers learn to share the gospel, form simple churches, and multiply disciples who make disciples. We celebrate powerful baptisms and the confidence that grows when people step into obedience immediately. Then we look ahead to a bold next step: reaching the Yao people group, a primarily Muslim unreached community, through relationships, local leadership, and a clear plan for next year.
