The Gobful is a (mostly) poetry podcast featuring conversations with poets and writers who have previously appeared as guest readers at the Gobshite Spoken Word Open Mic, held at The Golden Lion in Todmorden, West Yorkshire.
In this month’s episode, we talk to Glossop-based writer Ian Marriott, winner of the Cinnamon Press Prize. Ian reads poems from his collection The Hollow Bone, which draws on his experiences as a guide with the British Antarctic Survey. We discuss the idea of ‘nature’ and the ‘nature poem’, as well as Ian’s unique approach to the craft of writing. Along the way, he shares fascinating insights drawn from a rich and varied life of experiences.
