In this episode of I Hear You Say, recorded live at the ASCA Annual Conference in New Orleans, host Jill Cook welcomes ASCA board members Ebonee Magee-Dorsey, DPC, and Matthew Berry for a conversation about their journeys into school counseling and the importance of leadership and professional involvement. Magee-Dorsey shares her unexpected path from meteorology to school counseling and her advocacy efforts to expand school counseling services in her Mississippi school district, while Berry reflects on how his work with homeless and at-risk youth led him to a career in school counseling. They discuss what inspired them to serve on the ASCA Board of Directors, the board's role in shaping the organization's direction and the importance of ensuring diverse member perspectives are represented in leadership decisions. The conversation also explores opportunities for school counselors to get involved at the local, state and national levels; build meaningful professional connections; and take the next step in their own leadership journeys. Please visit Board of Directors to learn more about the ASCA Board.
