Today, we eat. You'll learn to say what you want to eat and drink — the everyday way and the extra-polite way — plus the question you'll hear at every counter: for here, or to go?
Mateo is very hungry. So hungry he asks for… everything. Then he mixes up a little word, Lucía fixes it with a smile, and he finally gets his sweet bread and chocolate cookie. And along the way, a surprise: you'll find out what the name of our recap, para llevar, really means. Sin prisa.
☕ Today's phrases
- ¿Qué quieres comer? — What do you want to eat?
- Quiero… — I want…
- Quisiera… — I would like… (the polite one)
- un pan dulce · una galleta — a sweet bread · a cookie (un and una both mean "a")
- ¿Para aquí o para llevar? — For here or to go?
Just to recognize: ¿Y para tomar? (and to drink?), de chocolate (chocolate, as in a chocolate cookie), Hoy no tengo prisa (I'm not in a hurry today), ¿Algo más? (anything else?) — answer: No, gracias.
Bringing back from Episodes 1–4: un café, por favor, ¿cómo estás?, la cuenta, por favor, ¿cuánto es?, numbers, and our motto, sin prisa.
🎯 Your tarea this week
Every time you eat or drink something, say it in Spanish first — "Quiero un café" or "Quisiera…". Bonus: find three foods in your kitchen and decide if they're un or una.
Why it works: you eat several times a day — that's several free practice sessions, attached to something you actually want.
Nos vemos en el café. ¡Hasta la próxima!
