What does the word "amateur" even mean anymore?

A golfer who earned more than $2 million as a professional just won the U.S. Senior Amateur. Colt Knost, after 199 PGA Tour starts and more than $4.5 million in career earnings, wants his amateur status back.

And golf may only be the beginning.
