Have you ever wondered if you're truly saved? If God truly loves you? If you've done enough, or perhaps done the wrong things? It's a common theme that we hear from people not only outside of the Christian faith, but even from professing Christians.
Now, there are some doctrines in certain Christian circles that may illicit those questions either intentionally or unintentionally in the way they interpret Scripture. But, from the Lutheran understanding, we read Paul's words in Romans 8:38, "I am sure" as an actual certainty in the objective reality of Jesus' Christ's death and resurrection for the forgiveness of sins and eternal life.
This one goes a bit deep, but it's good to ponder and distinguish what we believe. Because, what we believe shapes how we believe about everything else.
