Some decisions reduce pressure now by creating a bigger problem later.
In this episode of Before the Pressure, Dr. Arnold Sanchez explores the difference between immediate relief and lasting resolution—and why leaders need to consider the future cost of today’s decisions.
Strong leadership means solving the problem in front of you without quietly borrowing capacity, trust, energy, or performance from tomorrow.
In This Episode
- Why pressure shortens a leader’s time horizon
- The difference between relief and resolution
- How quick fixes can create recurring problems
- Why rescuing others can reduce long-term capacity
- How short-term decisions shape future behavior
- Why sustainable leadership requires margin
Today’s Pressure Prep
1. Identify the quick fix. Ask:
Where am I choosing immediate relief instead of lasting resolution?
Then consider what that decision is likely to create next.
2. Ask one future-focused question. Before an important decision, ask:
If we do this repeatedly, where does it lead?
If the answer creates a future you do not want, reconsider the move.
Reflection
What pressure am I reducing today that I may simply be transferring to tomorrow?
Remember:
Relief and resolution are not the same thing.
And:
Don’t spend tomorrow to fix today.
Solve what needs solving—but pay attention to the future you are creating while you do it.
