What does it actually mean to “live your best life”?
In this episode, David and Jerry look beyond the popular phrase and turn to Jesus’ teaching in the Beatitudes to ask what the best life looks like from a biblical perspective.
Beginning in Matthew 5, they walk through Jesus’ words about the poor in spirit, those who mourn, the meek, those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, the merciful, the pure in heart, the peacemakers, and those who are persecuted for righteousness. Along the way, they discuss salvation through faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ, the difference between salvation and the works that follow salvation, spiritual growth, repentance, reconciliation, and what it means to recognize Jesus as Lord.
They also explore how the Christian life should change the way believers see and treat other people, why studying Scripture deepens our understanding over time, and how followers of Christ are called to become both salt and light in a dark world.
The “best life,” according to Jesus, isn’t necessarily the easiest or most comfortable life. It is a life transformed by Christ, led by the Spirit, hungry for righteousness, merciful toward others, willing to pursue peace, and willing to stand for Christ even when doing so brings opposition.
