Last week I shared how I ended up sponsoring an award at the Class Business Awards.
This week I’m sharing the part I was most nervous about: standing up in front of a room full of amazing business owners and handing out that award. It’s one of the scariest things I can do, and I’m sharing how I got through it.
In this episode, I share:
- Why standing up in front of people is such a big deal for me, and why I’m not a natural performer
- How my fear even shaped the type of children’s activity business I chose to start
- The turning point that changed how I think about doing the things that scare me
- How I prepared in the days before, including the finalists’ names I was determined not to get wrong
- What I did on the day, from talking it through with friends to deciding to just be myself
Key takeaway: you don’t have to love it, and you may never stop feeling nervous. You just have to put yourself forward anyway.
Have a listen for how it all felt on the night.
