In this Episode of TTDN- Dr. Naidoo talks about some gradients of negative thoughts which include " dark thoughts." Sometimes youth may be feeling depressed, but not quite having active suicidal thoughts, and use different ways of speaking about sadness, depression, lonliness and painful experiences. " Dark Thoughts" is a common euphemism that can often confuse parents and mental health professionals. Thinking through examples of dark thoughts and its different gradients can help parents be prepared and alerted for when additional support for their youth is needed.
