Welcome to the Love Sweetie Podcast! In this episode, we review two letters that Sweetie wrote in September 1952. Sweetie's son, Lewis, started the second grade at the Doylestown Public School that fall, and Sweetie is eagerly anticipating the arrival of her parents from Iowa, but doesn't know yet when they might plan to visit. Meanwhile, the curmudgeonly Miss Darst has plans of her own to go out and see other people in town, and, as Sweetie recounts, creates a fire hazard in the house that Sweetie has to handle.
Check out the website at www.lovesweetiepodcast.com for the family tree, overall timeline of her story, and information on the previous episodes to catch up as you are able to - there is something in Sweetie's story for everyone!
The Love Sweetie Podcast is a unique historical project that features real letters from Kathryn Francis Demaree Graham a.k.a. "Sweetie" that were written during her lifetime. These authentic letters are narrated and commented on by the hosts of the show (who give context on what is being discussed).
It should also be noted that the content and vernacular in the letters, as disclaimed at the beginning of every episode, are part of the real historic text from 1952, and do not reflect the views of anyone associated with the Podcast, including the creator and the hosts.
