Claire tells the incredible story of a pirate at the heart of one of Australia's greatest convict escape stories, who named himself for a free-flying bird, though he had a long list of other criminal aliases and a colourful record.
A fast-talking escape artist with seagoing skills, William Swallow led a motley crew on an epic, swashbuckling voyage across the globe in a remarkable feat of navigation, after the bunch of prisoners on their way from Hobart to Macquarie Harbour took control of the brig Cyprus in 1829.
Likened to Australia's real-life Jack Sparrow, he encountered samurai and survived to tell the tale, although his account left a trail of confusion that was only confirmed after almost two centuries...
Matt finishes things off with a tale about a thief who found themselves trapped in a tricky situation.
