We’ve got an exciting episode for you today. Here is the link: https://open.spotify.com/episode/0BdzGAMC4WvKRMTU8tzORh?si=e43c06323e01493e I love road trips. I know not everybody does. Especially when it’s kind of forced on them. But I literally went on google maps and made the top half the eye’s view driving down the road where I have the cursor in the bottom half, the map. That helped me get a more vivid experience of the road since I’m really in front of a computer. Please let me know what you think. Thanks,Marc And they’re off. The Stivics hit the road. Samantha falls asleep. Giselle seems possessive of the wheel. They catch news headlines as they drive. Joey picks up a sandwich and coffee in Barstow to eat in the car as Giselle doesn’t want to stop without putting some miles on the car. She wants to make it to Needles, at the Colorado River, the border with Arizona, before stopping to sit down inside a place to eat. The highway seems to stretch out endlessly before them as the hot sun beats down upon it. Joey has fallen asleep too. As they approach the area around Needles, Giselle finally turns off the highway and makes their way to the restaurant she had seen on the map. It turns out, as Joey had anticipated, to be more of a lunch and dinner place than a breakfast diner and he is happy to enjoy a couple of beers on the tap. When they return to the car with something for Samantha, she is upset that she was left in a very hot car, even though the windows and sun-roof were open all the way. As they get on the road, in response to Samantha saying they are a boring family as the scenery is as bereft of any changes as before, Giselle suggests giving her a chance to drive. Samantha then takes over in driving them down this “endless” sun-scorched highway.FADE IN EXT./INT. IN FRONT OF KAMALA’S HOUSE – DAY The car with Giselle and Joey is in front of the house, motor on, standing. Samantha and Kamala are SAYING their GOODBYES (which was in the last episode), not heard now but only FAINTLY, and hugging each other. Joey leans over to beep the horn but Giselle, in the driver’s seat, pushes his arm away. GISELLECome on, Joey. Give them a chance to say goodbye their way. This istheir last chance. What’s your rush?Mama’s not gonna fall off her chairif we get there five minutes later. JOEYThat’s five less minutes I could beearning back the money I lost. GISELLEWell, that’s one way to look at it.I’m frankly proud of our girl that she was able to have a real, authentic, genuine relationship, and not justsomeone to prove something to others.I also think Kamala is a really goodperson to know. After some more farewell (in last episode but seen from Joey’s and Giselle’s perspective inside the car), Samantha leaves her partner and races toward and in the car. SAMANTHAOkay, let’s go. I can’t believe we’redoing this. GISELLE(as she drives)Neither can I. JOEYThat makes three of us. GISELLEWell as long as we’re on the road, let's have a good time. After waiting for the light, she turns right on East Santa Clara Avenue and then makes a quick right on North Grand Avenue. JOEYDid you fill up with gas? GISELLEAre you kidding? It gets cheaperthe further we get. We got a goodhalf tank. That should last us a long while. JOEYGood. I don’t want to have to be worrying about it while we’re drivingthrough miles of nothing. GISELLE(laughing)You’re still on when your customerslet themselves run out of gas and you had to go fill them. JOEYDon’t remind me. That’s one thing Iwon't miss. GISELLEDid everyone use the bathroom? Nobody says anything. GISELLEGood. I don’t know about you but I’drather not have to stop a hundred times and I don’t want to have to pee in the desert if you don’t mind. JOEYWhat are you worried about? In thedesert, there’s nobody for miles. GISELLEI don’t know if you checked lately,Joey, but roads are a lot more crowdedthese days than they used to be. JOEYSo you mean, we’re gonna have a lotof traffic to contend with? GISELLEWell, nothing like here in southernCalifornia but it won’t be like thosedays when it felt like you were in the middle of nowhere. Everywhere is somewhere nowadays. So many morepeople. JOEYWhat are you complaining about? Whenthere's a Democrat in the White House, there’s double, triple that as we get overrun by illegal border crossers. Giselle says nothing. Eventually they get onto an entrance ramp onto a highway that goes for a while and then merges onto even more of a highway. Samantha is starting to lose consciousness and dozes off. JOEYSo how are we going to arrange thedriving? Are we going to switch on and off every fifty or a hundred miles? GISELLEI don’t know. How bout we see how we feel? Nobody drives when they’re tired. JOEYYou’re in love with that wheel, I can tell. GISELLEWell, I guess I kind of love my littlecar. JOEYLittle car?... GISELLEIt’s been ...
