In this episode of our New Earth-ing series, I talk with Bob and Marissa of Earthseed Ecovillage about the real, on-the-ground experience of living in intentional community. We get into their mission of creating deeply connected lives—not just with each other, but with the Earth and the broader community.
We talk about how they self-govern using sociocracy and holacracy, the difference between discussion and proposal (and why that matters), and how finances are organized in a shared, cooperative way. I love hearing exactly how people are carving out new ways of living—how we can evolve old systems into something new, and yet somehow ancestral at the same time.
We also explore what it means to develop a kind of natural ecology of spiritual and daily practices that grow through the process of living together. And if you’re curious about joining or starting an intentional community, Bob and Marissa offer three things to consider before you take the leap.
