Episode title: Ep104: Donny Hubbard – Product Passion Meets Business Reality

What happens when the thing you love turns into a business you have to run? Donny Hubbard, founder of Hubbard Clothing Co. in Rogers, Arkansas, joins Matt, Shelby, and Taylor Lewis to talk about the gap between loving the product and building something that lasts more than 30 years.

Donny shares how he started out cold-calling from the Yellow Pages, the mentors who shaped him, and how relationships opened doors he couldn’t open on his own. He talks through opening his first store, getting through economic uncertainty, and betting on himself with limited resources. He’s also candid about the parts of ownership nobody sees from the outside: people decisions, costly mistakes, and how little of an owner’s week is actually about the product.

It’s a conversation about entrepreneurship, mentorship, sales, personal branding, and community. It’s also about why consistency often beats excitement. Whether you sell clothes, cars, or anything else, the lessons carry over.

In this episode:

• Why passion gets you in the door but doesn’t keep it open
• Lessons from cold calls and early mentors
• Myth Buster: “Do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life”
• The hardest calls an owner makes involving people
• How Hubbard Clothing Co. became a trusted name across Northwest Arkansas
• The business lesson that works in any industry
