What happens when characters believe the wrong person, trust the wrong face, or stumble into someone else’s story? In this episode of Couch Critics, Josh and Dave explore mistaken identity as one of cinema’s most versatile storytelling devices—fueling comedy, suspense, drama, crime, and plenty of delightful confusion.

The conversation ranges from the classic charm of Charade and The Man with One Red Shoe to the offbeat criminal comedy of Safe Men and the meta-movie mayhem of Last Action Hero. They revisit silent-film ingenuity through Safety Last, dig into noir with The Mask of Demetrios and Armored Car Robbery, and discuss the distinctive visual world of The Secret of Kells. Along the way, they talk Jackie Chan’s Drunken Master, dark comedy, contemporary films like Spontaneous and Mayday, filmmaking techniques, ambiguous endings, and the personal recommendations that keep a watchlist dangerously overstuffed.

Press play for classic cinema, hidden gems, genre detours, and a lively discussion of why mistaken identity never goes out of style.
