Let's talk about accidentally creating a FRANKENBIZ...a business that takes over your life like a monster (even if you're successful).
How to Avoid Creating a “Frankenbiz”
Have you accidentally created a business that is starting to run your life?
I call this a “Frankenbiz”—a business that you've pieced together over time by saying yes to clients, offers, opportunities, and ideas until suddenly you've created a monster that requires more time and energy than you ever intended to give it.
And here's the tricky part: your Frankenbiz can actually be successful.
You can love your work. You can make great money. You can have amazing clients. And you can still build a business that doesn't support the life you actually want to live.
I know because I've done it.
In this episode of Grow Your Business, Elevate Your Impact, I'm sharing my own experience with burnout, how I help my clients avoid creating their own Frankenbiz, and why I believe we need to design our lives first—and then build businesses that fit inside them.
In this episode, I talk about:
✨ What a “Frankenbiz” actually is — and how a business can be successful and profitable while still being completely unsustainable for you.
✨ Why loving your work doesn't protect you from burnout — especially when you continually add things you enjoy without considering your long-term capacity.
✨ My own experience with burnout while running a thriving six-figure healing center and realizing that the business I had created required far more of me than I wanted it to.
✨ Starting with the end in mind — instead of building your business first and trying to squeeze your life around it.
✨ Intentional lifestyle design — deciding how you want your life to look and feel and using that vision to guide your business decisions.
✨ The question I want every business owner to ask: “When I'm wildly successful, what do I want my day-to-day life to feel like?”
✨ Creating pieces of that life now instead of believing you'll finally slow down, take care of yourself, or enjoy your life once you've reached some future level of success.
✨ Understanding your actual capacity — how many hours do you want to work, how much client-facing time do you have available, and what do you want to spend your time doing?
✨ Knowing your numbers — how much revenue does your business need to generate to pay you, cover your expenses, and operate sustainably?
✨ Making sure your offers, pricing, and business model actually work together so you can reach your financial goals without exceeding your capacity.
✨ Combining intuition with strategy — because creating a business that feels good doesn't mean ignoring the math.
✨ Keeping business simple and focusing on what you actually need to build a profitable, sustainable business that supports your life.
Your business is supposed to support the life you're creating—not become the thing your entire life revolves around.
