What determines whether you react to the moment or respond in a way that honors God?
Every day brings opportunities to exercise self-control. A harsh comment can provoke an angry response. Temptation can promise immediate satisfaction. Distractions can pull our attention away from what matters most. In these moments, biblical self-control helps us choose obedience over impulse and allows our actions to increasingly reflect the character of Christ.
Episode 37 explores what Scripture teaches about self-control and why it's about much more than personal willpower. The Bible identifies self-control as a fruit of the Holy Spirit—evidence of God's transforming work within us. As we surrender our desires, emotions, habits, and decisions to Christ, the Holy Spirit strengthens us to make choices that honor God.
Self-control touches nearly every area of life, including our words, emotions, time, finances, thoughts, habits, and responses to temptation. Rather than restricting us, biblical self-control protects us and helps produce greater freedom as we learn to choose what matters eternally over what satisfies us temporarily.
