The Arctic Henge: A Gateway for the Sun
Near the Arctic Circle in northern Iceland stands a monument that feels ancient, even though it is still being built.
The Arctic Henge blends stone, Norse mythology, celestial movement, the midnight sun, winter darkness, and the seventy-two dwarves of Völuspá into a modern attempt to make the turning of the year physical.
In this episode of Tavern Reflections, we travel to remote Raufarhöfn to explore a place where mythology, landscape, astronomy, and human imagination meet—and where people are still arranging stones for the returning light.
