An Executive Coach Corner session on the two things a coaching practice runs on, and why you need both. The group named it directly: being genuinely great at the craft of coaching but shaky on the business side, the sales and marketing of it, is like pedaling with one pedal. You can be excellent in the room and still stall if the practice around it never gets built.
Along the way the group traded the real, unglamorous work of that build. One member talked through leaving tech for coaching full time, taking honest family time to reset, and landing her largest client yet. Another worked through a harder client dynamic: a client pushing back, unsure coaching had value because it wasn't what he expected, and the reframe that changed things, asking whether the client actually sees you as the coach who is there to help him get where he wants to go, rather than where you think he should. Underneath it ran the wider frame these coaches keep returning to, holding faith, family, and finances together rather than letting the practice swallow the rest.
If you are building something you are good at but quietly avoiding the part that sells it, this one is a useful mirror.
