このコンテンツについて
Professor Dale Kocevski, Associate Director of Physics and Astronomy joins me on this "Engage With Colby!" episode as we talk black holes, galaxies, stars, extraterrestrials, and more. Professor Kocevski's research interests include active galaxies, galaxy evolution, galaxy clusters, and large-scale structures.
We discuss his teaching techniques when helping students to envision the size of our solar system and how far apart planets and stars are from the sun and each other. We talk about how he was introduced to the "hobby: of astronomy, and his most mind-boggling space fact. He's been involved with projects such as CEERS, CANDELS, X-UDS, and ORELSE, and we talk alot about the James Webb Telescope (referred to the JWST in the recording) and how it's photos are changing astronomy.
In visiting his personal website and seeing some of his family photos, you can tell how much his family enjoys hiking; we wrap up with a brief tidbit about his favorite family hike here in Maine.
