  • #287: The Issue of Your Boss Refusing To Give You A Reference After You Have Complained About Discrimination Or Made a Whistleblowing Allegation Can Be A Minefield. Here’s Why!

Leave comments and questions here. If you would like a response, use our email: enquiries@employmentrightsonline.com

    Hi there

In our last podcast episode about references, we look at the specific cases of reference refusal linked to discrimination and whistleblowing, and the key points you need to have in mind, when thinking about making a complaint to an employment tribunal. We look at the important role played by the ‘Continuing Act’ principle, in discrimination cases… and we also look at the role of ‘Disclosure, Detriment and Causation’ in whistleblowing cases.

It's our view, that the more you are able to acquaint yourself with your employment rights in this area, the more your rights will act as an early warning system, which you can use to spot bad treatment or illegal treatment that you may be suffering at work. If you need help to formulate your complaint you can download a copy of our ‘Complaints Checklist’ here.

  • #286: Employment Tribunals and the Battle for Fair References After Dismissal From Your Job. Here Are Cases That Will Help You!
    2025/08/21

Leave comments and questions here. If you would like a response, use our email: enquiries@employmentrightsonline.com

    Hi there

In this week’s episode, we look at the devastating impact of being denied a fair reference after dismissal, through the eyes of leading employment tribunal cases, that have made it possible for employees to seek redress for bad ‘treatment linked to the weaponisation of their reference.

We also take you through several key cases that have laid the groundwork for employment tribunal action, and also remind you of the limitations that remain, despite the limited rights tribunal action can provide.

  • #285: The Silent Sentence: How Your Ex-Employer’s Refusal to Provide a Reference Traps UK Workers After Being Dismissed From Your Job!
    2025/08/14

Leave comments and questions here. If you would like a response, use our email: enquiries@employmentrightsonline.com

    Hi there

Having spent several weeks looking at coercive dismissals, we would be failing you if we didn’t look at one of the most complained about issues for UK workers following dismissal. That issue, is the issue of securing a reference from your last employer, when that employer has dismissed you from your job. In the episode, we look at several situations where you could find it difficult to get a reference, and the impact on you when your reference doesn’t arrive.

  • #284: Here Are The Tribunal Cases For Coercive Dismissals That Were Won And Lost At Employment Tribunal. Let's Look At How To Get To A Winnable Case!
    2025/08/07

Leave comments and questions here. If you would like a response, use our email: enquiries@employmentrightsonline.com

Hi there and welcome to our last episode of this mini series on coercive dismissals. We end the series by looking at real employment tribunal cases tackling the issue of coercion in constructive unfair dismissal cases, where outcomes were either positive or negative for employees. The aim of sharing these cases with you, is to highlight how your employment rights operate in a tribunal, so you can take the necessary steps to collect evidence of your experience to help prove your case.

  • #283: When Your Boss Pushes You Out of Your Job: Here’s How to Win Your Coercive Constructive Dismissal Case At Employment Tribunal!
    2025/07/31

Leave comments and questions here. If you would like a response, use our email: enquiries@employmentrightsonline.com

    Hi there.

In this week’s penultimate episode on coercive constructive dismissals, we look at the three key hoops you will have to jump through, to win your employment tribunal case. We also take a look at key steps and documents you will need, to help you prove your case.

Your employment rights are set up to recognise that you could have been pressured out of your job; and, employment tribunals understand the tactics employers will use to push you out of your job – therefore, the actions you take when faced with a coercive dismissal situation, will have a key role to play in your employment tribunal case.

  • #282: If You Or Someone You Know Is Facing a Coercive Dismissal Situation Take These Critical Steps to Challenge What Is Happening!
    2025/07/24

Leave comments and questions here. If you would like a response, use our email: enquiries@employmentrightsonline.com

    Hi there

In this episode in our ‘Coercive Dismissals’ mini series, we look at the actions you can take to challenge your employer’s attempts to remove you from your job using coercive tactics and behaviours.

Your employment rights are set up to recognise that you could have been pressured out of your job; and, employment tribunals understand the tactics employers will use to push you out of your job – therefore, the actions you take when faced with a coercive dismissal situation, will have a key role to play in future actions available to you, after you have been forced out of your job.

It's our view, that the more you are able to acquaint yourself with your employment rights in this area, the more your rights will act as an early warning system, which you can use to spot bad treatment or illegal treatment that you may be suffering at work. • #281: Dismissed Because You Are a Whistleblower? Here's How Your Boss Cannot Get Away With This!
    2025/07/17

Leave comments and questions here. If you would like a response, use our email: enquiries@employmentrightsonline.com

    Hi There!

This week we continue our mini-series on coercive dismissals by looking at ‘Whistleblowing Coercive Dismissals’.

Whistleblowing declarations are also known as protected disclosures, and are a protected employment right that you have, from day one of your employment, meaning that if you make a genuine whistleblowing declaration, you cannot be treated less favourably for doing so. By way of exploring this, we also look at three employment tribunal whistleblowing cases to assist you in clarifying your own issues, if you are facing similar circumstances at your workplace.

  • #280: WHAT! The Government Has Just Banned Your Boss From Using 'Gagging Orders' To Cover Up Your Bad Treatment At Work!
    2025/07/10

Leave comments and questions here. If you would like a response, use our email: enquiries@employmentrightsonline.com

    Hi there

Okay… grab a cup of tea and a biscuit if you have one, because big news just hit the airwaves and it’s the kind of news that will make you sit up and take notice.

The government announced on 08/07/2025, a ban against your bosses using coercive sneaky non disclosure agreements, which we spoke about in last week’s episode. Now, your employer will no longer be able to use settlement agreements; sometimes called confidentiality agreements; sometimes called non disclosure agreements; and, also called gagging orders – to stop you talking about criminal behaviour or bad treatment at work.

We bring you the full details in this week’s podcast!
