  • #295: When Your Boss Doesn't Have to Make Changes for Your Disability, At Work - And Without Those Changes You Can Lose Your Job. Here’s The Hard Truth Explained!
    2025/10/23

Leave comments and questions here. If you would like a response, use our email: enquiries@employmentrightsonline.com

    Hi there,

This week we look at a case that has just come out of employment tribunal… which seems to strengthen the rights of employers, if you have a disability. And, you expect your boss to make reasonable adjustments for you - so you can remain at work.

Added to this, the Equality Act 2010 makes it clear that employers must make changes to help disabled employees do their jobs. That’s the law! But what is often skipped over, is the other side of the coin - when your boss challenges when an adjustment is NOT considered reasonable?

We discuss all this and more, in this week’s episode.

It's our view, that the more you are able to acquaint yourself with your employment rights in this area, the more your rights will act as an early warning system, which you can use to spot bad treatment or illegal treatment that you may be suffering at work. If you need help to formulate your complaint you can download a copy of our ‘Complaints Checklist’ here.

  • #294: Be Careful What You Say At Work: It Could Get You Fired. The Case of The Fake Irish Accent That Got A Worker Fired From His 27-Year Career!

Leave comments and questions here. If you would like a response, use our email: enquiries@employmentrightsonline.com

    Hi there

This week, we look at a case that sounds funny - if it wasn’t so serious. This is the case of an employee with 27 years of service with his employer, who said something in jest… and it cost him his job. We look at what the employee said, how the company handled the situation and why the employee took his case to an employment tribunal… AND WON!

We discuss all this and more, in this week’s episode.

It's our view, that the more you are able to acquaint yourself with your employment rights in this area, the more your rights will act as an early warning system, which you can use to spot bad treatment or illegal treatment that you may be suffering at work. • #293: Bring Back Fees To Bring Your Case To Employment Tribunal? Here's Why We Should NEVER Go Down This Road Again!
    2025/10/09

Leave comments and questions here. If you would like a response, use our email: enquiries@employmentrightsonline.com

    Hi there

This week we have great news for every working person in the UK. The government has just slammed the door shut on a plan, that would have made it impossible for you to challenge your employer in an employment tribunal, without paying fees!

Bringing back fee-paying court systems into employment tribunals would have spelled disaster for hundreds of thousands of workers like you… who are treated badly every year. That's because a fee system would mean, that you would likely be prevented from accessing the justice you should be entitled to… FOR FREE!

We discuss the reasons why, in this week’s episode.

  • #292: A Ban on Zero-Hours Contracts Could Be a "Game-Changer" for One Million UK Workers. Here’s Why!
    2025/10/02

Leave comments and questions here. If you would like a response, use our email: enquiries@employmentrightsonline.com

    Hi There…

Zero hours contracts are often touted as the best way for workers to work in a flexible way, by taking work that fits their schedule. It’s also said that being able to work in this way, supports workers to have a better work life balance. So… what's wrong with them and why does the government want to ban these types of contracts. That’s the subject of this week’s podcast episode, where we also update you about a new employment right linked to Zero Hours Contracts.

  • #291: Your Boss Didn't Hire You Because You Support The Wrong Football Team And An Employment Tribunal Says That's Okay. Here’s Why You Should Be Worried!
    2025/09/25

Leave comments and questions here. If you would like a response, use our email: enquiries@employmentrightsonline.com

    Hi there

This week, we look at a really sticky case that has just come out of the employment tribunal. This case involves an employer who won an employment tribunal case after refusing to employ someone because the prospective employee was not the right ‘fit’ for the team. The tribunal saw this as a perfectly legal action to take and denied the employee’s claims of unfairness.

We explore the case and look at how this tribunal case, could be used to cover up discrimination.

  • #290: Is Your Boss’s Criticism of Your Work Just A Tough Management Style Or Is Your Boss Crossing The Line Into Something Illegal. Here’s What You Need to Know!
    2025/09/18

Leave comments and questions here. If you would like a response, use our email: enquiries@employmentrightsonline.com

    Hi there!

We’ve all been there! But when your boss criticises your work, maybe they’re harsh and maybe that criticism feels unfair. It’s certainly frustrating and can make you feel terrible and less valued at work. But when does tough criticism cross the line into something illegal?

This is the subject of this week’s podcast, which aims to support you to ask the right questions, to establish whether you are facing discrimination, harassment or generally – bad behaviour from your manager.

It's our view, that the more you are able to acquaint yourself with your employment rights in this area, the more your rights will act as an early warning system, which you can use to spot bad treatment or illegal treatment that you may be suffering at work. • #289: “You D***Heads”: Why Calling Your Boss This Name Can Still Lead to Unfair Dismissal And A Winning Case In Employment Tribunal!
    2025/09/11

Leave comments and questions here. If you would like a response, use our email: enquiries@employmentrightsonline.com

Hi There and welcome to this week’s podcast.

What if, in a heated moment, you actually called your boss a Dickhead? Surely, that would be an instant reason for your marching orders and dismissal for gross misconduct, right? Well… not necessarily!

This week we take a look at a recent employment tribunal case which has shocked the legal and employer worlds, because it involves and employee who used this abusive term towards her employer. The employee was then sacked on the spot, took her case to an employment tribunal and was found to have been unfairly dismissed.

    Hi there

As the new employment rights bill continues to trundle its way through parliament, we use this week’s podcast to bring you the latest updates and changes to the bill, to keep you up to date with where things are. There are some interesting changes to look at and some new clarifications have also entered the frame.

Overall, not much has changed, but the changes that have been brought forward are important for you to know at this stage, because if we get all these changes in the final employment rights bill, your proposed new employment rights will represent the biggest shift in UK unfair dismissal rights in decades… and will definitely add to your job security in the workplace.

It's our view, that being able to understand your employment rights, the more your rights act as an early warning system, which you can use to spot bad treatment or illegal treatment that you may be suffering at work. If you need help to formulate your complaint you can download a copy of our ‘Complaints Checklist’ here.
