  • Why Do Survivors Blame Themselves? | Trauma, Gaslighting & Reclaiming Your Inner Compass
    2026/10/19

*TW*: This episode includes personal accounts of childhood sexual abuse, coercion, and escaping a dangerous situation. Please listen with care and give yourself permission to pause or skip this conversation if needed.

What if your intuition was right all along, but you spent years believing someone else's version of your reality?

Why do survivors of sexual abuse, coercion, and other traumatic experiences sometimes blame themselves for what happened? And how do we begin trusting ourselves again after years of gaslighting, shame, and self-doubt?

In this deeply personal episode of Embodied Magic, Melinda shares how it took nearly twenty years to recognize and name an experience in which she escaped from a moving vehicle after a man refused to let her leave.

She also reflects on her childhood experiences of sexual abuse, the confusion of grooming, and how growing up as an unidentified AuDHDer influenced her relationship with authority, belonging, and trusting her own perceptions.

After following recent survivors' stories, Melinda began extending the same compassion to her younger self that she so readily offered to other women. And something shifted.

She realized that her inner compass hadn't failed her. She had recognized danger and acted to protect herself. What came afterward was years of questioning her own reality because other people insisted that her interpretation was wrong.

Together, we'll explore why survivors sometimes internalize responsibility for someone else's actions, how trauma and gaslighting can undermine self-trust, and why reconnecting with our body's signals is an important part of reclaiming personal agency.

Because learning to trust yourself after trauma isn't about never feeling confused, afraid, or uncertain again. It's about recognizing that your experiences, boundaries, and inner knowing deserve to be taken seriously.

    ✨ 5 Key Takeaways:

    1. Self-blame can be a lasting consequence of trauma and gaslighting.
When someone repeatedly dismisses or contradicts your experience, you may begin questioning your own memories, perceptions, and instincts—even when you knew something was wrong.
    2. Your nervous system's response is not a measure of your consent.
Freezing, dissociating, complying, or struggling to say no are possible responses to threatening or overwhelming situations. Not fighting back doesn't mean you agreed to what happened.
    3. Grooming can teach children to prioritize an abuser's feelings over their own safety.
Children may internalize shame, guilt, and responsibility for abuse, especially when affection, belonging, secrecy, and authority become entangled.
    4. Neurodivergence can add complexity to recognizing and processing coercion.
For some autistic and ADHD people, confusing social expectations, masking, past experiences of being misunderstood, and pressure to comply can make it harder to trust their own interpretations of events.
    5. Reclaiming your inner compass begins with taking your own experience seriously.
Your body's signals are valuable information. Learning to recognize them alongside your observations, values, and available choices can help you rebuild self-trust, strengthen boundaries, and practice discernment.

  • Embodied Pleasure Pt. 2 ~ 3 Ingredients of Orgasm, Desire and Turn on Styles
    2026/10/04

If orgasm sometimes feels elusive, unpredictable, or like something you’re trying way too hard to make happen, this episode is for you.

In Part 2 of this series on orgasm, I’m breaking the orgasmic experience down into three core ingredients: pleasure, the expansion of pleasure, and surrender.

To Go DEEPER, Get the Free Embodied Pleasure Guidebook that goes with this Podcast Series that provides you with visual aids as well as an exclusive Hypnotic Audio to help you find Inner Safety in Surrendering to Orgasm.

We’ll explore why understanding your own desire style—whether responsive, spontaneous, or somewhere in between—can completely change the way you approach sex and pleasure. I’ll also walk you through different “doorways” into turn-on, how attention can help pleasure expand, and why trying harder isn’t always the answer when you’re approaching orgasm.

Because orgasm isn’t a performance or a test you need to pass. It’s an experience you can learn to explore, understand, and receive.

We’ll also talk about what happens at that moment when pleasure is building and you have to allow yourself to let go—and how softening the body, breathing, and creating a sense of safety can support that surrender.

Ultimately, this episode is about taking orgasm off the pedestal and beginning to understand your pleasure as something you can get curious about, experiment with, and make your own.

    5 Key Takeaways:

    • Orgasm has three core ingredients: experiencing pleasure, expanding that pleasure through attention and engagement, and allowing yourself to receive and surrender to it.

    • Your desire may be responsive rather than spontaneous. You don’t necessarily need to feel turned on before a pleasurable experience begins—desire can emerge in response to the right context, stimulation, fantasy, touch, or connection.

    • Turn-on has many doorways. Sensory experiences, physical touch, fantasy, imagination, energetic practices, emotional connection, and environment can all become part of your personal palette for creating arousal.

    • Attention can help pleasure expand. Rather than monitoring whether orgasm is happening yet, bringing your awareness back to the pleasure already present can give that experience more room to grow.

    • Surrender doesn’t mean losing your agency. Sometimes the final piece is less about trying harder and more about feeling safe enough to soften, breathe, receive, and explore what happens when you stop forcing the experience.

Difficulty with orgasm doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with you. So many of us simply never received an education in how our own pleasure actually works.

And reclaiming that knowledge can be about so much more than orgasm—it can become a doorway into creativity, desire, self-knowledge, and personal empowerment.

  • Embodied Pleasure Pt. 1: The Nervous System & The Pleasure Detective
    2026/09/29

If you struggle to stay present during sex, find yourself thinking about your partner, your body, your to-do list—or wondering why orgasm seems to require so much effort—this episode is for you.

In this episode of Embodied Magic, Melinda explores why difficulty with orgasm isn’t always about your body’s physical ability to experience pleasure. Sometimes, the missing piece is learning how to shift your nervous system out of stress, bring your attention back into your body, and stay with pleasurable sensation long enough for it to grow.

You’ll learn simple, embodied tools for moving from distraction and performance into sensation, expansion, and surrender—including breathwork, grounding, movement, and Melinda’s “pleasure detective” practice for focusing your attention on pleasure and allowing it to spread throughout the body.

Rather than making orgasm another goal you have to achieve, this episode invites you to become deeply curious about pleasure itself—and discover what changes when your experience becomes the center of sex.

    Key Takeaways:

    • Your nervous system matters. Stress, fight-or-flight, shutdown, caregiving, and people-pleasing can all make it harder to shift your attention toward pleasure and stay there.
    • You can intentionally prepare your body for pleasure. Longer exhales, grounding, hip movement, sensory awareness, and other simple practices can help you transition out of the mental rush of everyday life and into your body.
    • Attention is one of your most powerful pleasure tools. Instead of trying to stop every distracting thought, Melinda teaches you to become a “pleasure detective”—finding the most pleasurable or alive sensation available and gently returning your attention to it.
    • Pleasure can be expanded. Using breath, focused awareness, and the visualization of an ember growing into a fire, you can practice staying with pleasurable sensation and allowing it to take up more space in your body.
    • Orgasm doesn’t have to be the measure of a successful sexual experience. Taking orgasm off the pedestal can reduce pressure and create more room for curiosity, connection, sensation, and pleasure—which may also make orgasm feel more accessible.
