A new report claims ESPN has already decided not to renew its massive WWE media-rights deal when the current agreement expires—but what went wrong?

ESPN became the exclusive United States home of WWE Premium Live Events, including WrestleMania, SummerSlam, Royal Rumble, Survivor Series, and Money in the Bank. The partnership was supposed to strengthen ESPN’s streaming service while exposing WWE to a larger sports audience.

However, reported communication problems, disappointing subscription results, and backlash from traditional ESPN viewers may have ESPN reconsidering the relationship. Nothing has been officially confirmed, and the deal still has several years remaining, but this could become a major problem for WWE and TKO.
