概要
As the year starts winding down, I've been thinking about what I'd like to learn in 2027. A recent gathering of my local lady homesteaders gave me a new way to approach this. We meet each month to share skills, from saving seeds to making things from scratch. But at our last meeting, instead of having someone teach a particular topic, we each shared something that we'd like to learn and something we could teach. I hosted the gathering, and I loved hearing how everyone's interests and experiences fit together. I'm especially interested in freeze drying. I've learned to can. I've done some dehydrating, and with my garden plans for next year, I'd like to get better at preserving what I grow. As it turns out, one of the women in our group already knows all about freeze drying and offered to teach us. I've had a similar experience with pickleball. Taking a class has helped me learn the rules and correct some bad habits I didn't even realize I was developing. When we talked about what we could teach, I offered to share some of the self-care practices that I've learned over the years. On today's Wise Walk, we're exploring how we can make learning and sharing part of our goals for 2027. We'll talk about finding people who can help us develop new skills, whether that's through a class, a community group, a book, or someone we already know. We'll also look at the things we're good at and how we might pass along some of that knowledge to others. I think there's something really nice about approaching the new year this way. Especially when we realize that we don't have to figure everything out on our own. There's a lot we can learn from each other, and I'm excited to see where that takes us. As you think about your goals for 2027, what area of your life would you like to grow in?What is something new you'd like to learn? How could you acquire that skill, knowledge, experience, or awareness? What is something you feel confident enough to teach others? What skills, knowledge, or processes do people regularly ask you to help them with? How could you be more proactive about sharing what you know? How could you be more intentional about learning something new? What areas of learning and teaching come to mind for you?Are there groups you could join to help you learn something new? What communities have knowledge, skills, or experience that you could benefit from?Is there someone you could hire to help you develop a new skill?Would investing in an instructor help you develop good habits and quickly learn from mistakes? What specific skill or area of knowledge would you like to focus on in the coming year? What communities could support you in reaching your learning goals?Who could help you learn something in a more efficient and effective way?Is there something you'd like to learn that relates to your career?Could you shadow someone or ask for guidance in an area where you'd like to improve? Is there something you'd like to learn that relates to your family? Is there a family recipe you'd like to learn, and who could help you master it?Are there family stories you'd like to learn and preserve for future generations? What skills, abilities, passions, or interests do you feel knowledgeable enough to share? What do other people consistently ask you for help with? What are you the go-to person for?How could you share your experience with others so they don't have to learn everything the hard way?How could you help someone develop good habits from the beginning? What could you teach a beginner in an hour that would help them get started? How could you be more vocal about the knowledge and expertise you have to offer?Where could you look for opportunities to share your skills with people who would appreciate them? How could you reach out to others and find people who are interested in learning from you?How can you make room in 2027 for both learning new skills and sharing what you already know? I would love to hear what you took away from today's episode. So please feel free to reach out and share. I look forward to next week's Wise Walk. We're going to have another conversation and self-reflection questions. Be sure to tune in. Until then, please be sure to prioritize fun as you read the signs, direct your path, and get your Stride On. In this episode: [04:49] When it comes to something I want to learn and something that I want to teach. I'm all about learning food preservation and freeze drying. [07:04] I love that I'm being offered these opportunities to learn. [08:43] When it comes to learning at this time, it is so much easier to research. [10:51] I'm learning so much about pickleball in a community class, plus the group of people are at my skill level. [12:53] You can design your goals for 2027 as a personal challenge. [13:46] I'm also taking an online class about teaching different meditation styles.[15:36] Set a timebound deadline for your goals.[16:04] I would be happy to teach self-care techniques that can nurture the ...
