What does it look like when the CFO of a company is just as invested in its people and mission as he is in its balance sheet? In this episode, hosts Roy Richardson and Sean Murphy sit down with Sean Cuda — CFO and board member of Regal Marine Industries, known worldwide as Regal Boats — for a conversation about stewardship, legacy, faith-driven leadership, and what it really means to be a trusted guardian of something that belongs to multiple generations.

Regal Boats is not a typical company. Founded in 1969 by Paul and Carol Kuck in Orlando, Florida, it is now in its third generation of family ownership, employs nearly 800 team members, distributes through a global dealer network spanning more than 40 countries, and has earned 46-plus marine industry customer satisfaction awards. Its stated purpose — to honor God and enrich lives — is not a marketing slogan. It is the lens through which every financial and operational decision is made.

Sean Cuda joined Regal in 2016, bringing a University of Florida accounting degree, five professional certifications, and a career shaped by his own entrepreneurial chapter running CUDA Capital. In March 2026 he was appointed to the board of directors of Grace Medical Home, a Central Florida nonprofit serving uninsured adults — a reflection of the same values he brings to work every day.

In this conversation, Sean opens up about:

  • Launching CUDA Capital — what running his own firm taught him about entrepreneurship that no corporate role could, and why it made him a better CFO
  • Walking the production floor on day one at Regal — why a finance leader going out to the boats being built earned more trust than any spreadsheet ever could
  • Closing the books in three days instead of several months — what low-hanging fruit looks like in a long-standing family business and how to implement change without breaking culture
  • Stewardship vs. ownership — the philosophy that drives every financial decision at Regal, and why short-term profit thinking and multi-generational legacy cannot coexist
  • "Honor God and enrich lives" — how a company purpose statement becomes a real filter for hiring, capital allocation, community involvement, and everything in between
  • Nathaniel's Hope and the Kuck's family's community footprint — how faith-based giving is woven into the company's identity across generations
  • Navigating the marine industry's cycles — supply chain disruptions, post-COVID demand surges, and the discipline required to manage through both extremes
  • AI in a manufacturing environment — why Regal is taking a deliberate, education-first approach rather than chasing every new tool
  • Training for the Marine Corps Marathon with his daughter — a Naval Academy midshipman — and why that commitment says everything about how he leads
  • Worry less, trust more — the lesson he would give his younger self, told through the lens of a Florida Gators national championship comeback

Whether you are a finance leader, a family business operator, or someone navigating the tension between performance and purpose, this episode is a masterclass in what it looks like to lead with both conviction and humility.
