Most of us feel confident we have kept the sixth commandment because we have never committed murder. But in Matthew 5:21-26, Jesus reveals that the real issue is not just what our hands have done but what our hearts are harboring. Anger, contempt, and bitterness are not minor struggles. They are the roots from which far greater destruction grows. Jesus calls His followers to pursue reconciliation with urgency and humility, not because it is easy, but because it reflects the way He pursued us. Not murdering anyone is not the ceiling of righteousness. It is the floor. The call is clear: identify where anger has taken root, take responsibility for your part, and take the first step toward healing today.

Jesus did not come to abolish the Old Testament. He came to fulfill it. Every sacrifice, every covenant, and every promise in Scripture was pointing directly to Him. God's goal has never been mere rule-keeping. It has always been heart transformation. The righteousness God demands is not something we can manufacture on our own. Jesus lived the perfect life we could not live, fulfilled every requirement of God's law, and then died in our place. Through His Spirit, He now works that same righteousness in us. The question is not whether you have become perfect, but whether you are becoming more like Him.

Jesus never promised His followers would change the world through power or prominence. He said they would change it through faithfulness. In Matthew 5:13-16, He calls His people the salt of the earth and the light of the world, not as a command to achieve something, but as a declaration of identity. Salt is only useful when it stays salt, and light is only useful when it shines. The greatest threat to kingdom witness is not opposition but concealment, hiding who we are to gain acceptance, comfort, or approval. Faithfulness in everyday places, homes, workplaces, neighborhoods, and relationships, is how kingdom life enters the world. The goal is never admiration. The goal is that people see our lives and give glory to the Father in heaven.
