Every stadium light in Jerusalem is burning. It's the last night of the biggest festival of the year — dancing, wine, feasting, and four 75-foot golden menorahs lighting up the entire temple courts so brightly that ancient writers said not one corner was left dark. The whole city is remembering the pillar of fire that led their ancestors out of Egypt, and waiting for the Messiah they were promised would be their light.

That's the exact moment Jesus stands up and says: "I am the light of the world."

This week, Jamie and Crystal dig into the second of Jesus's seven "I Am" statements — and the historical context of the Feast of Tabernacles changes everything about how this verse lands.
