With food recalls making headlines, we take a closer look at food safety, corporate responsibility, government oversight, and the political conversation surrounding Donald Trump and America's beef industry.

Taylor Farms & Prison Labor. Reports about Taylor Farms' past use of incarcerated workers in Arizona raise a bigger question: when prisoners are working for pennies while companies and governments benefit financially, where do we draw the line between rehabilitation, exploitation, and modern-day forced labor? Records and reporting indicate incarcerated workers were paid $1.25 an hour while the state received substantially more per worker.

How Much Is Black Worth Connected to Whiteness?

We get into the uncomfortable conversation about whether Black people have been conditioned to measure success, status, beauty, intelligence, and social value by how close they are to whiteness.

Black Bodies, Southern History & Unanswered Questions.

Recent cases involving Black people found hanging from trees have reopened painful memories of America's history of lynching and raised questions about how these deaths are investigated and discussed by authorities and the media. One recent Mississippi case involving 29-year-old Tasia Fortune remains under investigation.

Jed York & The “Poor Pussy” Wager. And then we get into the latest controversy surrounding 49ers owner Jed York, the circumstances surrounding his recent arrest, and the broader conversation about privilege, accountability, hypocrisy, and what happens when the people with money and power find themselves on the other side of public scrutiny.
