You're trying to get your aging parent home, keep track of medical appointments, figure out the next crisis, and somehow remember what you were doing five minutes ago.

And you're supposed to know how to do all of this?

In this episode of The Wicked Daughter — Managing Your Aging Parent, One Meltdown at a Time, Mom is making slow, steady progress in rehab after a serious accident and weeks of medical complications. I'm trying to get her home, which means coordinating medical care, navigating a new AFib diagnosis, hunting for a house, and figuring out what caring for her will actually look like once she's no longer surrounded by rehab staff.

I thought that if I planned carefully enough, I could figure it all out.

Then I started questioning whether I could actually do it.

Because caring for an aging parent isn't just about managing medications, scheduling appointments, and finding the right equipment. It's also about the pressure we put on ourselves to be the daughter who can handle everything—and the guilt that creeps in when we start wondering if we can.

In this episode, I share another story from the trenches of family caregiving: the medical complications, the endless mental checklist, the unexpected realities of preparing for a parent to come home, and the moment that made me question what I could realistically manage on my own.

As always, there's dark humor, honest storytelling, and a few things I wish someone had told me sooner.

If you're caring for an aging parent, navigating elder care, coordinating medical appointments, or preparing for a loved one's transition from hospital or rehab to home, you may recognize more of this than you'd like.

I'm not a perfect caregiver. I don't have all the answers. I'm figuring it out as I go, just like you might be.

You might laugh. You might cry. You might find yourself thinking, YES. This. Someone else understands.

And hopefully, you'll leave feeling a little less alone.

Pull up a chair. Hide your emergency chocolate.

We're figuring out the messy middle of caregiving together, one meltdown at a time.
