Immigrant rights activist and content creator Dulce Rositas (@dulcerositas) joins Pink Politics to share her journey from Mexico City to the United States, arriving pregnant and starting over with almost nothing. She opens up about learning English as an adult, raising her children between two cultures, and how her experiences eventually pushed her toward advocacy and political content.
Dulce and Kathleen discuss political messaging, immigration, Latino voters, colorism within the Latino community, and the challenges Spanish-speaking political creators face online. Dulce also explains how a viral video eventually evolved into immigration-focused content after an ICE operation in Pomona, building on an activist streak she says goes back decades.
Later, Dulce shares how she became an ICE watcher, getting up as early as 3 a.m. to monitor locations and warn her community when something appeared suspicious. She says she continued for roughly a year before concerns about detention caused her to stop.
