What is reality? Who are we? What are we doing here? Questions that will be answered by the films in this weeks show. Or maybe not! That’s the brilliance of these two ‘out there’ films that will be dueling each other this week. From 1995 we have John Carpenter and his Lovecraftian experiment ‘In the Mouth of Madness.’ This goes up against the master himself David Lynch and his seemingly impenetrable treatise on identity that is Lost Highway.

Two films that have their own brand unto themselves. Directors that have cult followings. Who handles the descent into madness better? Which director can take their viewer on a journey that better depicts what it’s like to truly lose a grip on reality and who you are?

It’s break week! We’re not taking a break down, just dealing with a few different versions of the word. From 1995 we have Outbreak, a story about a race against time as a group of scientists and military personnel try to contain a virus. In 1997 we got the thriller Breakdown where Kurt Russell is racing against time and some dastardly villains who have kidnapped his wife.

Both movies are pinnacles of the thriller genre from this period and have great performances to boot. Which one is more thrilling? Which one handled their premise better? It’s gonna be a tense week to see who takes home the victory.

Holy Schnikies! Comedy Week has arrived! From 1995 we have the classic SNL alumni-led ‘Tommy Boy’ starring Chris Farley and David Spade. From 1997, it goes up against the juggernaut of the time, Jim Carey and his ‘Liar, Liar.’

Both movies have loads of laugh and helped define humor and memes for a generation. But which one is the better film? Which one has better laughs? Who should take home the victory. I assure no lies inside!

It’s crime week! Here we have two of the best crime movies of the decade, and perhaps all-time. From 1995 we have Get Shorty, the John Travolta and Rene Russo led comedy based on an Elmore Leonard novel goes up against, you guessed it, Jackie Brown, the 1997 caper film directed by Quiten Tarantino that is also based on an Elmore Leonard novel. This Elmore Leonard guy might have been on to something!

Does the crisp dialogue and pacing of Tarantino’s work take the day or does the whip smart timing and humor of Barry Sonnenfield’s vision get the nod? Listen and find out!

Last week was a bit more subtle in the goings-on of political happenings but we’re ‘back in action’ in the most literal sense this week with two of the biggest action films from the decade in Crimson Dawn (1995) up against Con Air (1997).

We’re back! Another season and yet another duel for the ages. Literally. This season we’re shaking things up yet again by pitting one year against another. That’s right. It’s movies from the year 1995 versus movies from the year 1997. Both of these years are golden years of the 90’s and for film in general. Which makes them perfect contenders for our show.

For our first week to kick things off, we have a special one. For all those Batman fans out there we have a comic book movie duel for the ages: “Batman Forever” vs. “Batman & Robin”! While these two movies may have put the franchise and comic book movies in general on the back burner, they still have some greatness in there. Right?
