- Craig Zeller found the tan leather purse at 6:40 a.m. on April 19, 2014, dry and intact against a dripping cypress root while the surrounding bank was muddy and flooded.
- Inside the purse were a Louisiana driver's license, a Mastercard, $41 in cash, a ChapStick, a grocery receipt dated April 16, and a small spiral notebook; notably, there was no phone.
